Significant news has just emerged from New York, reported by a highly reputable journalist covering the Islanders, Stefen Rosner.

Is it already the end of Patrick Roy as head coach of the Islanders?

Rosner has suggested a major turn of events that could have a significant impact in the coming months. He stated:
«I think at some point, Roy will be the GM and Desrosiers will be the head coach.» - Stefen Rosner

Wow!
We learn that there's a real possibility of seeing the legendary number 33 end his return as an NHL coach prematurely to climb the organizational ladder and become the future GM of the Islanders. If this is the case, Benoit Desrosiers would become the team's coach in turn.
It's worth noting that Lou Lamoriello is 81 years old and doesn't have much time left at the helm of the team. Some rumors even suggest that if the Islanders don't make the playoffs this season, it could be his last as the head of the organization.
Roy could, in a way, be following in Barry Trotz's footsteps, who also transitioned from a career coach to a general manager in Nashville.
This will be an interesting story to follow closely over the summer.
