The Montreal Canadiens may face tough decisions even before the NHL training camps begin.

Due to the increase in the salary cap, teams have more flexibility, raising the chances that players placed on waivers could be claimed by other clubs.
As a result, the Canadiens will need to be cautious with their decisions to avoid losing players.
22-year-old defenseman Justin Barron is a player to watch. Barron, who can no longer be sent down to the Laval Rocket without going through waivers, could be traded if he is outperformed during the camp.
With young players like Logan Mailloux and David Reinbacher making progress, Barron needs to prove his worth to remain on the team.
Kent Hughes may consider a trade to avoid losing him for nothing, according to Marco D'Amico, in a context where defensive depth is crucial.
Stay tuned.
