The NHL is following the trend of other professional leagues by partnering with a major streaming player.

The NHL, Rogers Communication, and Amazon have struck a major deal to broadcast all games scheduled for Monday nights on the Amazon Prime platform.
Prime Monday Night Hockey will exclusively air the games scheduled in Canada on the first day of the week.
This represents a significant shift and is just the beginning of the transition from traditional television to streaming platforms.
Here is the announcement on Amazon's website:
The partnership between Rogers and the NHL has been incredibly successful and is a key part of Sportsnet's leadership as Canada's number one sports media brand. Today's content ecosystem is evolving, and we are thrilled to work with Amazon to continue growing the game and helping hockey fans watch games when and where they want. - Colette Watson, President of Rogers Sports & Media

With Prime Monday Night Hockey, we are offering our customers even more opportunities through their Prime membership. We are committed to further innovation for fans by bringing the NHL into more Canadian homes and on more devices than ever before on Monday nights. We are excited to offer Prime Monday Night Hockey as part of our unique entertainment destination, which includes complementary channels like Sportsnet for more hockey and sports content, the latest movies for rent or purchase, popular and award-winning Amazon Originals streaming with Prime, and much more. - Magda Grace, Head of Prime Video for Canada, Australia, and New Zealand

We are thrilled to collaborate with Amazon and Rogers on this initiative. Amazon has a strong track record of presenting sports on Prime Video in a very innovative and viewer-friendly manner. We are committed to serving hockey fans and reaching new audiences with our robust content distribution strategy that delivers exciting NHL content across a multitude of streaming services. With this innovative partnership, we continue to stay true to that goal. - David Proper, Executive Vice President, Media and International Strategy of the NHL.

The Canadiens will have five games on Prime Monday Night Hockey:
October 14 vs. Penguins, November 18 vs. Oilers, December 9 vs. Ducks, January 6 vs. Canucks, and April 14 vs. Blackhawks.
A new way to watch NHL hockey. It will take some getting used to.
