Serge Savard remains a significant figure in the history of the Canadiens. After a brilliant career as a player, he was also an effective general manager.

The hockey great is highly respected by the majority of Quebecers for his achievements in hockey and in life.
Savard is also known for speaking his mind. In an interview with Tony Marinaro on BPM Sports today, the man known as "the Senator" discussed several interesting topics.
He talked about Patrik Laine's arrival, his thoughts on the current team, and also reflected on Marc Bergevin's tenure as the Canadiens' head of hockey operations.
According to Serge Savard, the Bergevin era was disastrous for the team:
«Bergevin's two five-year plans didn't work out [] I have confidence in the new management. It's much more serious than before»

He's not wrong. Yes, there was the 2021 Stanley Cup Final, but there were also several poor draft decisions and very generous contract extensions.
Savard is notably more optimistic about the current leadership, referring to Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.
