Things are not looking good in New York for the Islanders, as Patrick Roy's team is completely falling apart. They have just lost a seventh game in their last eight outings, seriously jeopardizing their chances of making the playoffs.

It's been a rollercoaster for the legendary number 33 since he took over behind the bench last January. Before hitting this rough patch at the worst possible moment of the season, the Islanders had managed to string together six consecutive wins, even securing a spot among the two wildcard teams for the postseason.
Unfortunately for them, this dreadful streak has now pushed them down to 4th in the "Wild Card" standings, four points behind the Washington Capitals and the last playoff spot.
The situation has become critical in the final sprint of the season, especially since the Islanders have played one more game than the Caps, which is bad news for Roy.
New York just lost another game, being shut out again yesterday by the New Jersey Devils, marking the third time in eight games that they've been shut out.
The Islanders' offense is really Roy's team's Achilles' heel.
A sequence during yesterday's game quickly went viral, aptly summarizing the team's current woes:
It will be interesting to see what happens with this organization during the offseason.
The Islanders have one of the oldest lineups in the league and are struggling to win. Major changes will need to be made to rejuvenate the team or to start a long rebuilding process.
