According to Elliotte Friedman, Ryan McLeod and Ty Tullio of the Oilers have been traded to the Sabres. In return, the Oilers receive young prospect Matthew Savoie.
Ryan McLeod, 24, a 2nd-round pick in 2018, just had his best season with 30 points. Tyler Tullio, 22, a 5th-round pick in 2020, has the potential to become a 4th-line player in the NHL.
Matthew Savoie, the 9th overall pick in 2022, recorded 47 points in 23 junior games and 5 points in 6 AHL games last season.
The Sabres were looking for a player who could help them immediately and are physically bolstering their lineup with McLeod, who stands 6'3, compared to Savoie's 5'9.
Recently, the Sabres have drafted several players under 6 feet, such as Noah Ostlund, Zach Benson, and Konsta Helenius.
Buffalo now has a fast bottom-6 with the additions of Ryan McLeod, Sam Lafferty, Nicolas Aubé-Kubel, and Beck Malenstyn.
