According to Elliotte Friedman, the Jets have strengthened their defense by acquiring Dylan Coghlan from the Hurricanes.

This right-handed defenseman, a restricted free agent, will need to sign a new contract with the Jets. The return remains to be confirmed, but it seems to be a 7th-round pick.
Coghlan played 59 games with the Golden Knights in 2021-22 before spending the last two seasons with the Hurricanes, where the depth on defense limited him to just one NHL game and 61 in the AHL with the Springfield Thunderbirds in 2023-24.
Undrafted, Coghlan stands 6'2" and weighs 210 pounds. He distinguished himself in his last two junior seasons with the Tri-City Americans, tallying 53 and 63 points. In 2018-19, he impressed with 40 points in 66 games with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL and had a similar season last year with 41 points in 61 games.
He has a good offensive instinct and a powerful slap shot. It will be interesting to see his development in Winnipeg.
