In the final minutes, the Montreal Canadiens officially confirmed that Lane Hutson has signed a three-season deal with the organization. He will burn the first year of his contract by joining Martin St-Louis's team for the end of the current campaign.

"The Canadiens agree on the terms of a three-season entry-level contract (2023-2024 to 2025-2026) with defenseman Lane Hutson." - Montreal Canadiens

This announcement was eagerly anticipated by the fans, and now it's official: Lane Hutson is a member of the Montreal Canadiens!
Furthermore, by signing the contract offered by General Manager Kent Hughes, the 20-year-old defenseman also ends his college career. He will remain with the team for the next season, playing either with the Montreal Canadiens or the Laval Rocket.
Many general managers underestimated him before his time in the NCAA, but he has clearly demonstrated that he possesses the skills needed to succeed in the NHL, despite his small stature. Indeed, Hutson shattered many of the previous records set in college hockey, surpassing the statistics of defensemen like Cale Makar, Quinn Hughes, and Adam Fox.
After a season with 48 points in 39 games last year, the defenseman followed up this season with 15 goals and 34 assists (49 points) in 38 games, showcasing his exceptional talent and promising potential.
"Leading all NCAA defensemen with an average of 1.29 points per game, Hutson has been named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the top player in NCAA men's hockey, for a second consecutive season, having also been among the ten finalists in 2022-2023." - Montreal Canadiens

Impressive!

Moreover, new information regarding Lane Hutson's arrival has just surfaced. Unfortunately for fans hoping to see number 20 in action against the Ottawa Senators, they will need to remain patient, as the defenseman will only join his new teammates in Detroit on Sunday night.
"Lane Hutson will join the team Sunday night in Detroit." - Luc Gélinas

After all, considering that the Blue-Blanc-Rouge prospect is from Michigan, the idea of allowing him to play his first career game in front of his family and friends is completely understandable. Therefore, we can strongly expect to see him in Martin St-Louis's lineup Monday night.
Wow!
