In the final moments, the renowned Sportsnet insider, Elliotte Friedman, just announced an acquisition and confirmed the rumor surrounding the Montreal Canadiens.

While there were some speculations raising concerns among fans about the possibility of Lane Hutson not signing with the Canadiens, Friedman has set the record straight, and it's the perfect scenario.

Hutson is expected to sign a contract with Kent Hughes and the Canadiens in the next few hours, according to Elliotte Friedman!

In the latest episode of his podcast 32 Thoughts, the journalist revealed that it's only a matter of time, but it will definitely happen.

"There are a few games left to play this season for Montreal, it will be done when it is officially announced, but everything absolutely indicates that he will join the Canadiens as early as this season. Everyone wants to give him time to digest his loss for now, but he had pretty much already made his decision before the game was played. So, we wait, but everything definitely indicates that he will join the Canadiens." - Elliotte Friedman

Of course, this is the kind of news that makes us extremely happy today, especially since some people in the industry had raised the possibility that the second-round pick in 2022 could pull an Adam Fox and ultimately refuse to sign with the team that drafted him.

It's worth noting that there are three games left in the Canadiens' season, including a matchup tomorrow against the Ottawa Senators, and a back-to-back series against the Detroit Red Wings to wrap up on Monday and Tuesday next week.

Hutson, 20 years old, the 62nd overall pick in 2022 (second round), amassed 49 points in 38 games this season at Boston University, including 15 goals.
