Just hours before the clash between the Montreal Canadiens and the Boston Bruins, Renaud Lavoie made a major statement regarding the future of Martin St-Louis as head coach as well as his potential successor.

Indeed, during his appearance on BPM Sports this morning, the journalist from TVA Sports indicated that the head coach of the Bruins, Jim Montgomery, will one day coach the Canadiens.
"One day, he will coach the Canadiens." - Renaud Lavoie

Yes, you read that right. Renaud Lavoie believes that Jim Montgomery, who has been with the American team since the start of the 2022-2023 season, will one day be behind the bench of the Habs.
Wow! We didn't see that coming!
Obviously, the connection is rather easy to make given that the Bruins' coach is a Quebecer who speaks French and who has played with the Montreal Canadiens during his time in the NHL.
However, we are right to wonder if Renaud Lavoie made such a statement by chance or because he had exclusive information that no one knows for the moment.
One thing is for sure, this will be a situation to closely watch in the coming years!
"Record of teams coached by Jim Montgomery since his arrival in the NHL:

ˇ Dallas Stars (2018-2019): 43 wins - 32 losses - 7 overtime losses
ˇ Dallas Stars (2019-2020): 17 wins - 11 losses - 3 overtime losses

ˇ Boston Bruins (2022-2023): 65 wins - 12 losses - 5 overtime losses
ˇ Boston Bruins (2023-2024): 38 wins - 14 losses - 15 overtime losses"

Renaud Lavoie added that he does not think Jim Montgomery will replace Martin St-Louis in the short term, but he nonetheless mentioned that he could possibly be his successor.
Let's remember that the Bruins' head coach was involved in various rumors before the Canadiens' general manager, Kent Hughes, made his choice on Martin St-Louis.
Now recognized as one of the best coaches in the Bettman league, Jim Montgomery could potentially help the Canadiens when the team finally reaches maturity.
