Over the last few hours, a rather unexpected announcement was made within the Montreal Canadiens organization.

Indeed, the Trois-Rivières Lions, the Canadiens' ECHL affiliate, confirmed that Latvian defenseman Markuss Komuls has been added to the team's suspended player list, with the purpose of officially removing him from their lineup.
This was completely unexpected!
This means that the young 26-year-old defenseman, who played in the NCAA before joining the Trois-Rivières team, will permanently leave the Trois-Rivières Lions to pursue other opportunities in Latvia.
In 48 games in the ECHL, the Talsi native scored two goals and provided five assists (seven points) this season.
We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors!

Shortly after the departure of Markuss Komuls, the Trois-Rivières Lions announced they had acquired 24-year-old defenseman Keenan MacIsaac. Indeed, the former University of Ottawa player signed a one-season contract with the Trois-Rivières team.
His name might bring back some memories for fans, having played his entire junior career in the QMJHL. During his five seasons in the Quebec league, MacIsaac accumulated 96 points in over 275 games with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens, the Acadie-Bathurst Titans, and the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
"The Trois-Rivières Lions announced they have signed defenseman Keenan MacIsaac.

He will bring good support to the team in the final stretch of the season being a very mobile defenseman and capable of imposing himself in both ends of the ice!

Welcome to the team!" - Trois-Rivières Lions

This is a very interesting addition for Ron Choules' men, who are currently in an intense race for the playoffs. Currently in seventh place in the North division, the Lions are only three points behind the Worcester Railers, who occupy the last spot for the spring dance.
