Major acquisition: future star defenseman to join the Canadiens

Adam Engstrom, a 6-foot-2-inch, 190-pound defenseman, selected in the third round of the 2022 draft, is currently catching the eye of many in Sweden.

He just completed his second season in the SHL, the top European league, with an impressive record of four goals and 22 points in 51 games, at the age of 20.

He is developing as a reliable two-way defenseman with a good offensive flair, combined with excellent skating skills.

In connection with his potential, a teammate of the young defenseman and former Canadiens player, Brandon Davidson, recently made a very flattering statement about Engstrom. He believes that the latter will have a long career in the NHL.

Davidson, who is his teammate with Rögle, believes that Engstrom now has all the necessary tools to become an excellent defender in the NHL, after improving his 200-foot game this year.

Moreover, Engstrom was supposed to join the Laval Rocket before the end of the season, but unfortunately, his playoffs were extended as his team is now in the SHL finals.

According to speculation around the Canadiens, the management would like to see him arrive in North America for the next season, and a signing should be announced with him in the coming weeks.

The already fierce competition at the blue line of the Tricolore will add another player who could potentially add his name to the mix for the available spots in Montreal.
