With his assist added to Nick Suzuki's goal yesterday, it's now confirmed for Juraj Slafkovsky, he officially enters the record books of the Montreal Canadiens franchise.
Here is the organization's statement on this:
"In this photo: the teenager who scored the most points (40) in a season in the history of the Canadiens." - Montreal Canadiens
What a turnaround for the first overall pick of the 2022 draft this season!
After a slow start to the campaign, Slafkovsky completely unlocked when he was paired with the team's first line and, since then, he is seriously proving to everyone that he has the potential to become an elite player.
"40 points for Slafkovsky were statistically and logically very unlikely before his December 4th pairing alongside Caufield and Suzuki.
He had 2 goals and 5 assists in 24 games.
Seeing him reach this milestone tonight is certainly noteworthy.
19 years old." - Anthony Martineau
CH's number 20 had one more game to play before celebrating his 20th birthday on March 30, meaning he could potentially raise this mark further in the rich history of the Canadiens, Thursday, against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Moreover, with this assist added to his record, it now makes two streaks of eight games with at least one point for the Slovak, an exceptional feat for a 19-year-old, especially since he accomplished this feat in the second half of the season.
This gives him 32 points in his last 40 games, which equates to a production pace of 66 points.
"They added the assist to Juraj Slafkovsky on Suzuki's goal. It's a streak of eight consecutive games with at least one point for the 19-year-old, 40 points on the season, and 32 points in his last 40 games." - Arpon Basu
It's quite promising for the future of the Canadiens.
