WOW: David Savard Sends a Clear Message to Kent Hughes Ahead of the Trade Deadline

With the trade deadline fast approaching and numerous rumors swirling throughout the NHL, many players are currently in the dark about their future with their current team.

At the Montreal Canadiens, although there's little chance of seeing them leave for various reasons, the names of Jake Allen and David Savard are making noise on the trade market.

While Allen is unlikely to change addresses due to the low demand for his services, the situation for Savard is the complete opposite. The Quebecois defenseman is attracting a lot of attention, and he could certainly bring back a significant return in the event of a trade.

During a recent appearance on RDS, the 33-year-old veteran broke the silence regarding the rumors about him, and he took the opportunity to make a heartfelt plea to the Canadiens' management.

"Of course, the dream of all players is to win the Stanley Cup. Having done it, it will remain something special and I have very good memories of it. But for sure, at the moment, we are happy here and I like how we are treated. I also like the group we have and where it's going. I would like to stay." - David Savard

Let's just say it couldn't be clearer, Savard prefers to remain in Montreal, rather than getting another opportunity to win the Stanley Cup with a contender.

This says a lot about his affection towards his organization, and in this context, it's the kind of message that can have significant repercussions within the Canadiens' locker room as well.

Savard is one of the undisputed leaders of the CH, and his impact goes far beyond on-ice performances. His role as a mentor and big brother is crucial for a young core like the one currently at the club.

Unless there's an offer that's too good to refuse, I highly doubt Savard will be traded by the upcoming March 8 deadline.
