In the last few hours, a new signing was announced within the Montreal Canadiens organization. Indeed, the Trois-Rivières Lions, the CH's affiliate club in the ECHL, have agreed to terms on a one-season contract with defenseman Jacob Paquette.
Drafted by the Nashville Predators in 2017, he could certainly become an excellent acquisition for the Trois-Rivières team. It's rather rare to see this, but the 24-year-old potentially holds the talent necessary to climb the ranks within the Montreal organizational chart.
The 6 feet 3 inches tall and 216 pounds defenseman performed very well in the Canadian university ranks this season, accumulating three goals and eleven assists (14 points) in 26 games with Queens University. He notably racked up a huge total of 54 penalty minutes.
Before continuing his career in the OUAA, the former seventh-round pick had an excellent journey in the junior ranks, collecting 84 points with the Kingston Frontenacs, Niagara IceDogs, and Peterborough Petes.
