After acquiring Casey DeSmith in the trade involving Mike Hoffman and Rem Pitlick earlier this summer, Kent Hughes decided to pass the goaltender to the Vancouver Canucks in return for veteran Tanner Pearson and a third-round pick.

Many fans expected the 31-year-old forward to be traded by the trade deadline, as he is currently in the last year of his contract. After all, he clearly isn't part of the organization's future plans, and many believed that the Canadiens would be able to obtain a draft pick for his services.
However, after an excellent start to the season where Pearson recorded five points in five games, his offensive contribution significantly decreased, only gathering five points in the following 34 games. Indeed, this challenging offensive period certainly does not help Kent Hughes, given that the forward's market value is currently very low.
Acknowledging his disappointing performances, fans have set aside the possibility of seeing him change addresses by the March 8 deadline. However, during his appearance on Hockey 360, Pierre LeBrun mentioned rather unexpected information regarding CH's number 70.

Situation Reversal: Pierre LeBrun Confirms a Trade Involving Tanner Pearson Is Still Possible

Indeed, he confirmed that although Pearson is not a priority for some general managers, he is still on their lists. Knowing that several teams will want to add depth for the playoffs, he could become an interesting option if some teams are unable to acquire their plan A, B, or even C.
"Tanner Pearson is not high on the priority list of teams, but he is on their list." - Pierre LeBrun

After all, the forward has a lot of NHL experience, having won a Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings. If Kent Hughes agrees to retain 50% of his $3.25 million salary, it wouldn't be surprising if a general manager decides to give up a third or fourth-round pick to acquire him.
Certainly, this will be a file to watch by the trade deadline.
