Sportsnet Proposes Massive Trade Involving Jake Allen and Two Firsts
As the trade deadline fast approaches, Jake Allen's name is increasingly popping up in various trade rumors. Indeed, Kent Hughes is reportedly very active in seeking to finally resolve the three-goalie situation.
Furthermore, according to circulating reports, the Colorado Avalanche is one of the teams that would be highly interested in acquiring the 33-year-old veteran. It's worth noting that, according to recent information reported by Elliotte Friedman, Kent Hughes and Chris MacFarland have already started discussions to complete a potential trade.
A three-team trade involving the Canadiens, the Ducks, and the Avalanche?
In the past few hours, the Sportsnet network has launched trade proposals that could materialize by the March 8 deadline. Among these is notably a three-team trade between the Montreal Canadiens, the Anaheim Ducks, and the Colorado Avalanche.
While this is not based on concrete information, it's always interesting to take a look at these famous proposals to analyze the chances of such a trade happening in the near future.
Here is the proposed trade:
«It would be a three-team trade involving Colorado, Anaheim, and Montreal:
COLORADO would receive Adam Henrique and Jake Allen
ANAHEIM would receive Calum Ritchie, Avalanche's 1st round pick in 2025, Sean Behrens, and Ryan Johansen
MTL would receive a 3rd round pick from the Avalanche in 2026.
*ANA would retain 50% of Henrique and Allen's contracts» - Via NHL Watcher
Wow! Kent Hughes would certainly not refuse such an offer!
Although Jake Allen has a lot of experience and a Stanley Cup ring, his recent performances (no wins in his last five games) significantly decrease his value on the trade market. It would be an excellent move if the CH manages to get a third-round pick without retaining part of his contract.
As for the Avalanche, Jared Bednar's team would add two good veterans in a bid to succeed in the playoffs. However, these acquisitions would come at a high cost, as they would have to part with a top prospect in Calum Ritchie and a first-round pick.
Undoubtedly, the big winners of this trade would be the Anaheim Ducks. The California organization would acquire two solid prospects, a first-round pick, and Ryan Johansen in exchange for Adam Henrique. Of course, the Ducks would have to retain part of the salaries of Allen and Henrique, but they have a good amount of cap space, so this wouldn't be too problematic in itself.
In your opinion, which general manager would refuse this proposal?
