MAJOR: Rumour Confirmed for Jordan Harris and His Days in Montreal are Numbered
As we reported this morning, an important rumor regarding Jordan Harris's future in Montreal started to circulate. Jacob Stoller from The Hockey News was the first to mention that the Canadiens' defenseman is currently being shopped by Kent Hughes.
"I'm told that the Montreal Canadiens are shopping Jordan Harris right now ahead of the trade deadline.
Harris is a 23-year-old left-handed defenseman who skates well and has one more year left on his contract ($1.4M). The surplus of young defensemen in MTL has made him expendable." - Jacob Stoller
Now, a second source confirms the same rumor
Journalist Jimmy Murphy now says that the Canadiens have "definitely" placed Harris on the trading block.
"Regarding NHL trade rumors concerning the Canadiens and defenseman Jordan Harris:
I'm told that given Harris's fall in the depth chart with so many good young defensemen in the Canadiens' stable, Harris is definitely on the trade market.
Knowing how much Kent Hughes likes Harris as a person, he will likely try to find the best place for Harris to get more playing time and develop, provided that the return makes sense for the Canadiens." - Jimmy Murphy
The 23-year-old defenseman is therefore on the trading block, and a move is seriously to be expected in his case, by the March 8 deadline.
This confirms the rumor, as Harris's days in the Tricolore uniform are seemingly numbered.
Considering the depth on the left side of the defense with Michael Matheson, Kaiden Guhle, Arber Xhekaj, Jayden Struble, and Lane Hutson, by the end of the season, Harris's presence had become a tradeable asset.
Several teams will be watched for a potential trade involving Harris, including the Calgary Flames, the Dallas Stars, and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
