In recent hours, a potential trade of Jake Allen to Colorado has exploded following a post by former NHL player Matt Murley, who is an expert for the Barstool site and for Spittin' Chiclets.

"I'm told Jake Allen [has been traded] to the Avalanche. Colorado is acquiring the veteran goaltender they need to secure their goaltending position for another run at the Stanley Cup!" - Matt Murley

Murley, who played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Phoenix Coyotes during his career, also has nearly 100,000 followers on his social media, lending credibility to his post.
Even a journalist covering the Avalanche added his insight at the same time, mentioning that the team was seriously looking into Jake Allen from the Canadiens.

Confirmation of the Rumor

In short, in connection with this storm that took social media by storm yesterday, during his appearance on TSN 690 this morning, well-known insider Darren Dreger provided some very interesting clarifications on the situation.
"Darren Dreger on @TSN690 says the Canadiens and Avalanche had trade negotiations around Jake Allen, but there haven't been any significant discussions between the two teams for nearly two weeks." - via HabsLinks

Thus, the rumor regarding Colorado's organization's interest in Allen's services is confirmed. The team needs stability in goal to support Alexandar Georgiev, who is not having a good season currently.
To give you an idea, their number one goalie has practically the same efficiency rate as CH's number 34 (0.898 for Georgiev and 0.895 for Allen).
However, Dreger adds a detail by mentioning that the two teams have not discussed together for two weeks.
As is known, the goalie market is currently stagnant, partly due to some leading goaltenders possibly changing addresses by March 8, including Jacob Markstrom in Calgary and John Gibson in Anaheim.
However, it's very relevant to learn that the Avalanche has indeed shown interest in Allen, and it will be interesting to follow this file over the next few weeks.
It's known there have been discussions between the #CH and the #Avs for Jake Allen. We agree that the goalie hasn't been inspiring in his performances recently. But a change of scenery + a better defense... who knows. And Ryan Johansen (very similar contract) was relegated to the 4th center position in Colorado and played 12 minutes last night. Clearly, there's something to work on here. But it remains to be seen if KH will be able to 'pull the trigger' by March 8 or if it will rather be an off-season trade. Allen vs Johansen makes sense for both clubs, honestly. We'll keep a close eye on this! - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
