A significant piece of news has just been announced regarding the goalie situation at the Montreal Canadiens.

Journalist Raphaël Doucet from La Poche Bleue has stated that a trade involving one of the organization's goaltenders is close to being finalized.
"@raphdoucet spoke to a source well informed about the goalie situation in Montreal and was told that 'the end of the goalie trio is near'."

Doucet added that his source indicated the matter should be followed in the coming days or weeks, and it does not involve placing anyone on waivers.

Given the recent signing of Samuel Montembeault, everything points towards a trade involving either Jake Allen or Cayden Primeau.
The question now is whether Kent Hughes will dare to trade a 24-year-old goalie who has had only one bad stretch in five games, or whether he will manage to offload the hefty contract of the 33-year-old veteran.
According to what's being heard, the issue might very well be resolved by the end of December.
This will be a situation to monitor closely.
