In the past few hours, a new trade was completed within the Montreal Canadiens organization. The Trois-Rivières Lions, the CH's affiliate in the ECHL, acquired defenseman Cory Thomas from the Utah Grizzlies.
The 6'5", 195-pound defenseman will certainly bolster the Trois-Rivières defensive squad. At 25 years old, Thomas has played nearly 70 games in the ECHL since turning pro, accumulating 11 assists during this period.
He also played four seasons at the University of Vermont in the NCAA, finishing his college career at Canisius College where he played 34 games. It will be interesting to see if he can bring an additional element of toughness to Ron Choules' team.
