Dr. Harjas Grewal, popular on the web for his injury prognoses based on observed footage, has shared his insights. He's known for his accuracy and, unfortunately, his prediction for Anderson's injury doesn't sound encouraging.
Here's what he stated about Anderson's injury:
« Hockey gear obscures finer details, but they're worried about a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), which is over a 6-month absence. For the MCL (depends on the grade) and/or meniscus (4 to 6 weeks if trimmed, 4+ months if repaired) as well as a bone bruise for Josh Anderson.
Probably an update tomorrow after the MRI. »
Ouch! This suggests a possible ACL tear leading to several months of absence, or several weeks if it's just a cut and not a tear.
Either scenario implies that number 17 would be out for a long time, with a real possibility that his season could be compromised.
There's also a chance that Anderson's injury might not be as severe as feared, but it's prudent to brace for the worst.
We will keep you updated as more details become available.
