A tremendous tragedy has recently struck the hockey world, and it is absolutely heartbreaking.
In recent days, it was reported that 22-year-old defenseman Craig Spence tragically lost his life in a car accident on Highway 401 in Ontario.
Craig was enjoying the best season of his career, having scored an impressive total of 25 goals and 49 assists (74 points) in just 36 games with the Blenheim Blades in the PJCHL.
His team released a touching statement via their Twitter account to announce the sad news to their fans:
"The Blades are saddened by the passing of our captain Craig Spence. An incredible hockey player, a teammate, a brother, and an even more incredible person. Our thoughts and prayers are with Craig's family and everyone who knew and loved him." - Blenheim Blades

Having been drafted by the Mississauga Steelheads in the OHL, the Ontario team wished to pay their final respects.

From what can be seen on social media, Craig Spence was clearly loved in the hockey world, and his death leaves thousands in mourning.
