While the Montreal Canadiens' AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, is currently fighting for a playoff spot, the organization has announced several pieces of bad news.
Indeed, three players, including the team's top scorer, Brandon Gignac, will have to miss morning practice due to injury. Mitchell Stephens and Jacob Perreault will also be sidelined, and they could potentially miss the last two games of the season against the Belleville Senators.
Certainly, if the team's new acquisition, Jacob Perreault, has to miss the remainder of the schedule, there is no doubt that Jean-François Houle will be hoping for the return of his two veterans by Friday.
The Laval Rocket simply cannot afford any more mistakes and must win its last two games to have a chance to qualify for the playoffs. The presence of Brandon Gignac, who has recorded 19 goals and 36 assists (55 points) in 65 games this year, will be crucial if the team hopes to make the playoffs.
The same goes for Mitchell Stephens, as the forward has proven to be one of the key components of the Rocket's attack. Aged 27, the center from Peterborough, Ontario has amassed 12 goals and 22 assists (34 points) in 48 games this season.
