With just a few weeks remaining until the much-anticipated NHL draft lottery, Macklin Celebrini's father, the likely future first overall pick, has revealed where the young man hopes to be drafted next June.
Indeed, the Celebrini family hopes that the recent Hobey Baker Award winner will join the ranks of the San Jose Sharks, should they win the lottery.
Although the product of Boston University is Canadian, there's a very logical reason behind the interest in him landing in California—it's because his father, Rick Celebrini, is the director of sports medicine for the Golden State Warriors, based in San Francisco.
Of course, if he were to join a team other than San Jose, Celebrini would be very happy, but given that on paper, this organization has the highest probability of securing the first overall pick, the family is allowing themselves to believe.
Adding Celebrini could make the Sharks, along with players like William Eklund, Thomas Bordeleau, Quentin Musty, Filip Bystedt, Will Smith, and others, a very exciting team in the making.
According to the latest information shared by the NHL, the draft lottery will take place on May 6 or 7, based on the results of the first round of the playoffs.
