Yesterday afternoon, Sean Monahan had the opportunity to meet his new teammates during his first full practice with the Winnipeg Jets. Indeed, his head coach, Rick Bowness, had quite a surprise for him, thus confirming that the former Canadien will play a very important role in his new organization in the coming months.
Indeed, number 23 will play a major role, being placed at the center of the first power play unit alongside Mark Scheifele, Gabriel Vilardi, Kyle Connor, and Josh Morrissey. After all, Sean Monahan has clearly demonstrated that he can be an important addition to the man advantage, having scored 6 goals and 10 assists (16 points) in 49 power play games this season.
This is certainly a great sign of confidence from his head coach, who does not hesitate to use him in such a position, even though the 29-year-old forward has not yet played a single game with his new team.
Note that he will also be used in the second five-on-five unit, where he will have the opportunity to play with two very talented players, namely Cole Perfetti and Nikolaj Ehlers. If Sean Monahan continues on his current trajectory, he could very well reach the 60-point mark for the first time since the 2018-2019 season, currently boasting 35 points in 49 games.
