The loss of Sean Monahan will hurt the Montreal Canadiens significantly, and we have serious proof of this after the announcement regarding his replacement on the power play.

Although many thought that Josh Anderson might fill his role on the first wave of the five-man attack, which is not really an interesting option with only seven goals and 13 points in 45 games, the verdict has finally come down.
It is not Anderson, but Tanner Pearson who will take over Monahan's vacated spot. Ouch!
"It's Tanner Pearson who takes over Sean Monahan's spot on the Habs' top power play unit -- for now, at least..." - Priyanta Emrith

The 31-year-old forward has only scored four goals and eight points in 30 games so far.
Let's say the shoes will be hard to fill for someone who unfortunately no longer has the offensive performance of the past.
It seems to me that Rafaël Harvey-Pinard could have filled Monahan's "bumper" role better, having had success in that position last year. Although it's not the season hoped for the Quebecer, his 14 goals in last year's 34 games deserve a try on the first wave much more than Pearson, in my opinion.
