Trade alert: Sharks and Predators make a deal
The San Jose Sharks and the Nashville Predators completed a significant trade on Sunday afternoon, just days before the NHL draft.
Despite the ongoing Stanley Cup Finals, teams are already making moves to adjust their rosters.
Recently, the Sharks strengthened their lineup by claiming Barclay Goodrow from the New York Rangers via waivers.
In this latest trade, San Jose acquired Egor Afanasyev from the Predators in exchange for Ozzy Wiesblatt.
Afanasyev, 23, was drafted 45th overall by Nashville in 2019. Last season, he scored 54 points in 56 games in the AHL and played two NHL games without registering a point.
Wiesblatt, drafted 31st overall by San Jose in 2020, has yet to play in the NHL but has spent three seasons in the AHL, reaching the conference finals this year with the Milwaukee Admirals.
