Carey Price, former goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens, is celebrating two years of sobriety after struggling with substance abuse issues.
At 36, he now feels much better mentally. He shared his journey on the podcast UnHammered with former hockey player Brantt Myhres, who has faced similar challenges.
Price described the various stages of his sobriety, explaining how he had to reinvent his lifestyle habits without alcohol.
Price's issues peaked after the 2021 Stanley Cup Final, leading him to join the NHL's player assistance program in October 2021.
With the support of his team and general manager Marc Bergevin, he was able to overcome this challenge.
Today, Price enjoys simple moments with his family and feels freed from the social pressure associated with alcohol consumption, finding a new balance in life.
