The San Jose Sharks, who have been in the area since their NHL debut in 1991, might soon leave the SAP Center.
Although they only moved into their current arena in 1993, it has been their home for 31 years.
Recent reports suggest the team might be forced to relocate due to a new arena management agreement set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
Sharks President Jonathan Becher revealed that this agreement is unfavorable for the team. Despite this, the Sharks are keen to stay in the Bay Area and are considering nearby cities like San Francisco or Oakland if relocation becomes necessary.
The team has built a strong connection with San Jose over the past three decades. While leaving would be nostalgic, it seems the franchise is looking to escape less favorable conditions and might explore local options for its future.
