Comtois, drafted 50th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2017, has played 211 NHL games, amassing 87 points, including 38 goals.
Last year, Comtois played primarily with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL after an unsuccessful tryout with the Vegas Golden Knights. In 45 games with the Wolves, he scored 12 goals and added 16 assists.
In March, Comtois had signed a two-way contract with the Carolina Hurricanes for the remainder of the season, but ended up playing only one game with the team before making this decision.
