Major rumor confirmed with the Flyers and Danny Briere is overly generous

The Flyers are currently active. After welcoming Matvei Michkov to Philadelphia, they have extended the contract of a key forward in the organization.

The Flyers' leading scorer from last year has agreed to terms on a new 8-year deal with the Philadelphia-based franchise.

Travis Konecny has signed a $70 million contract for the next 8 years with an annual salary of up to $8.75 million.

Konecny has been wearing the Flyers' orange, black, and white jersey since being selected in the first round of the 2015 draft.

Daniel Brière has always praised the contribution of his forward and is rewarding him with a very generous contract extension, to say the least. Konecny is a good player, but is he truly an NHL star forward?

At least the Quebecois general manager seems determined to build a strong and young core for the upcoming seasons. Time will tell if he is right.
