Danny Briere is trying to rectify a mistake by the Flyers with Caufield
During the 2019 NHL Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers faced a significant dilemma with the 14th overall pick.
The former management had to choose between Cam York, a young, mobile offensive defenseman, and Cole Caufield, a diminutive sharpshooter capable of filling the opposing net with goals.
Against all expectations, they opted for Cam York, thereby allowing the Montreal Canadiens to pick up Caufield at 15th overall, a real steal at that position.
Since then, Flyers fans have been haunted by this decision as they watch the development of both players.
York has proven to be a solid defenseman, having a good first full season with Philadelphia, but Cole Caufield has been making waves in Montreal, becoming a favorite among fans.
Some still struggle to accept the Flyers' decision, but the organization seems to be looking to rectify things in a rather unique way.
Enter Brock Caufield into the Philadelphia Flyers organization.
Indeed, Cole Caufield has an older brother, Brock Caufield, who just finished his first professional season with the Newfoundland Growlers, the ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
At 25 years old, Caufield tallied 32 points, including 12 goals, in 63 ECHL games this season.
Thus, Brock Caufield will be playing with the Reading Royals during the 2024-2025 season, having signed with the team as a free agent.
