Shocking Turnaround for Patrick Roy and the New York Islanders
A remarkable turnaround is currently happening in New York with Patrick Roy's team.
After modest beginnings behind the bench of a team that had catching up to do in order to compete for a playoff spot, the Islanders have now accomplished a remarkable feat.
The team, led by the legendary number 33, has just won its sixth consecutive game yesterday, against the Anaheim Ducks. Wow!
They now have 72 points in 63 games, which puts the Islanders among the two wild card teams currently, ahead of the Detroit Red Wings who have slipped out of the top-8 for the first time with 72 points in 64 games played.
However, the job is far from done for Roy and his team, who will have to fight until the end to keep their place ahead of the Wings.
The Washington Capitals, who are clinging to the hope of a playoff spot with a total of 69 points in 62 games played, should not be counted out of the picture either.
As you can see, with the Tampa Bay Lightning also not yet assured of a spot, it will be a four-team race for the last two playoff spots.
It will be exciting games until the end in the Eastern Conference.
