TSN journalist Darren Dreger has just made a significant announcement involving Nick Suzuki of the Montreal Canadiens.

In preparation for forming the team that will represent Canada at the upcoming World Hockey Championship, it has been revealed that unfortunately, Nick Suzuki will ultimately not participate in the event.
Both he and Travis Konecny from the Philadelphia Flyers have declined the invitation to play for their country in May.
"Dawson Mercer and Jared McCann added to Team Canada's lineup. Sidney Crosby is considering his invitation. It seems that Nick Suzuki and Travis Konecny have both chosen not to play." - Darren Dreger

This is quite disappointing for CH fans who were hoping to see Suzuki play a significant role with the Canadian team, especially to make a good impression in view of the upcoming 2026 Olympic Games.
Within the Montreal club alone, three Canadian players have thus refused this opportunity, namely Michael Matheson, Samuel Montembeault, and now, Suzuki.
It's worth noting that his good friend Cole Caufield will soon join the American team. He has accepted the invitation from his delegation.
At least, another interesting detail from Dreger notes that Crosby is still considering the invitation. This is quite impressive given that he is now 36 years old and certainly does not need to participate in this tournament to enhance his resume.
The Penguins' captain has participated in the World Championship twice, once after his rookie season in 2006 and again in 2015.
