Revealing the Canadiens' interest in Patrik Laine, and we have the details

Patrik Laine is still a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets, but for how long?
His name continues to be heavily featured in trade rumors, and he is frequently linked to the Montreal Canadiens.
Recently, we learned that Don Waddell from the Blue Jackets would like to receive an NHL-caliber player, not just a prospect, in return for Laine. He might also be willing to retain part of Laine's salary in the trade.
However, according to Eric Engels of Sportsnet, who discussed it with Tony Marinaro on the "Sick Podcast" yesterday, the Canadiens' interest in the Finnish player might not be very high.
Laine's recent involvement with the NHL's player assistance program and his struggles with injuries in Columbus do not encourage Kent Hughes to act quickly to bring him to Montreal.
In summary, while the Canadiens have some interest in Laine, it will depend on the asking price and the portion of the salary that the Blue Jackets are willing to cover.
This makes sense, and Kent Hughes is known for his patience in such matters.
