Major turnaround and Ivan Demidov will go to the American League?

The talented Russian forward will play the upcoming season in the KHL with SKA Saint Petersburg. Everyone expects him to make his big debut with the Canadiens in 2025.

However, an analyst on Montreal's English radio station TSN 690 believes it would be better for Ivan Demidov to play a few games, or even a full season, in the American League before joining the NHL.

Chris Peters suggests that refining Demidov's game in the American League would be beneficial, citing Nikita Kucherov as an example. The star player of the Lightning played with the Syracuse Crunch and also in the QMJHL after leaving Russia.

As an old adage goes, it is often better not to rush a young player and to bring them to the NHL a bit later, rather than pushing them too quickly and then having to demote them to a lower level.

It's likely that Kent Hughes and Martin St-Louis will be patient with their highly talented offensive prospect.
