"According to an NHL source close to the situation, the Montreal Canadiens had a deal on the table to acquire star forward Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks a few weeks ago.
At the beginning of the first round of the NHL Draft held in Las Vegas in late June, the Canadiens and Ducks had agreed on the terms of a trade that would have sent Trevor Zegras to Montreal along with one of their second-round picks. In return, the Canadiens would have sent young defenseman Logan Mailloux and their later first-round pick (21st overall) in 2024.
However, I am told that it was the Canadiens who eventually decided not to complete the transaction and informed the Ducks during the first round." - via HABSolumentFan and Marco Normandin
