Martin St-Louis puts a journalist in their place after bad question
During the press conference ahead of tonight's Canadiens versus Lightning game, head coach Martin St-Louis put a journalist in their place following a question he did not appreciate.
The Canadiens have totaled four wins in their last five matches, many of them against strong clubs.
Related to this successful period, the coach was asked about the notion that it would be easier to score goals and win games for a team that has been eliminated, as there would be no more pressure on the players.
«For teams that are not participating in the playoffs, it is easier to score goals and win games, because there is no pressure. It's something we hear a lot...» - Journalist
Not really appreciating this statement, St-Louis cut off the question by saying:
«Who says that? You said you hear that, who says that?» - Martin St-Louis
Visibly irritated by this question, the coach concluded by stating that no goal and no victory comes easily, and to say so is to focus on the negative rather than the positive.
«For me, that's just noise. I put on my headphones and keep going.» - Martin St-Louis
We love St-Louis's response, as it's true that there are no easy games in the NHL, whether you are in the playoff picture or not.
Until the end of the schedule, you face teams that are Stanley Cup contenders, therefore very formidable opponents, and others who are fighting for a playoff spot, thus playing crucial games they absolutely must win.
Pressure or not, all games are challenging, and there are no easy victories.
The proof that this statement is completely false is that the majority of teams that will not participate in the postseason continue to be just as bad even after their elimination is confirmed.
