The Montreal Canadiens disappointed many fans by not selecting any Quebec prospects or QMJHL players in the latest draft.

The Tricolore drafted 10 players but chose not to pick any native players from la Belle Province. According to statements from executives Martin Lapointe and Nick Bobrov, the opportunity did not arise.
According to Martin Lapointe, the Canadiens would have liked to draft a local player, but he was supposedly already chosen. Could they have been targeting scorer Justin Poirier, who was ultimately drafted by the Hurricanes in the 5th round?
In the sixth round, we were looking for a Quebecois, but he was picked.

It's easy to say in hindsight. It should also be noted that this wasn't a strong year for the QMJHL draft class. Nevertheless, one might think that the Canadiens are not making a huge effort to draft local talent.
This doesn't seem to change over the years. However, the Tricolore has just confirmed that Quebecois Jules Boilard from the Drakkar will be invited to the team's development camp.
