Prospect Aatos Koivu seems to have inherited his father Saku's character. The recent Canadiens draft pick made a significant statement about his ambitions.
Currently participating in a camp with the Finnish national team in preparation for the upcoming World Junior Championship, the Canadiens' third-round pick is determined to make his mark in the tournament.
He aims to follow in the footsteps of his father, the former Canadiens captain who competed in the tournament in 1993 and 1994.
Aatos Koivu also has specific goals for the coming years and appears motivated to achieve them.
"I know he enjoyed it, and he told me how special the World Juniors were. He reminded me to have fun. These are very big tournaments and not everyone gets to participate even if they want to.
I really want to show the coaches, the staff, everyone that I want to be part of this team. I believe I can be a special player and a good player."

However, several scouts have suggested that Koivu still has a lot of work to do to become a future NHL player. He needs to build muscle, mature in his game, and become more effective defensively.
He represents a promising long-term project for the Montreal Canadiens.
