A stunning development this morning as it was announced that Juraj Slafkovsky, the young forward from the Montreal Canadiens, will not participate in the qualifying matches for the 2026 Olympics.
According to journalists Szymon Szemberg and Tomas Prokop, neither Slafkovsky nor Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Erik Cernak is on the roster for the Slovak national team.
Miroslav Satan, a former NHL player and current president of the Slovak federation, stated that the decision was made after sometimes difficult discussions with the players and their general managers.
Here are the players announced for the Slovak team:
Forwards: Marek Htivik, Milos Kelemen (Utah HC), Robert Lantosi, Adam Liska, Lukas Cingel, Kristian Pospisil, Martin Prospisil (Flames), Milos Roman, Libor Hudacek, Pavol Regenda (Ducks), Marian Studenic, Matus Sukel, Adam Sykora (Rangers), Tomas Tatar (Devils).
