Ivan Demidov has been the talk of Montreal Canadiens fans since his selection at the last draft.
He has one year remaining on his contract with SKA Saint Petersburg in the KHL, and the Canadiens' management hopes he will arrive in North America for the start of the 2025 season.
«The KHL was formed to compete with the NHL, and the top Russian hockey officials don't like seeing talented young players go to North America. So, will there be a charm offensive to try to sign him to a longer-term deal? Don't be surprised. I'm not saying he will sign, but I'm convinced that SKA Saint Petersburg will make a big push.»

This situation is similar to what happened with Kirill Kaprizov and Evgeny Kuznetsov. It's not the first nor the last time this will occur.
Let's hope Ivan Demidov still makes his debut with the Canadiens' organization in 2025.
