According to Kelly Chase, a trade between the St. Louis Blues and the Montreal Canadiens involving Chase was blocked by Brett Hull himself.
During an NHL trade deadline, Chase, worried about a potential trade, accepted an invitation from Hull to play golf. Midway through the round, he learned he had been traded to the Canadiens.
Hull, refusing to believe the news, insisted that Chase finish the round rather than heading straight to the Blues' office. Hull had actually intervened to block the trade due to his friendship with Chase.
