Alex Kovalev, one of the prominent figures of the Montreal Canadiens over the past twenty years, is considering a return to the NHL, but with specific conditions.
In an interview with Nicolas Cloutier of TVA Sports, he expresses his desire to come back in a role more focused on the ice and teaching young players. Kovalev wants to avoid frequent travel associated with scouting and prefers to remain directly involved with the team. He envisions a position as an assistant coach or in player development.
Currently an assistant coach for Spartak Moscow, he also works individually with players, including Martin Necas. Kovalev believes Necas has not yet reached his full potential and could offer more on the ice.
