Following the trade between the Canadiens and the Jets for Sean Monahan, and amidst rumors regarding Cayden Lindstrom, Kent Hughes appears to be targeting another young talent.
Montreal could be following a similar theme to that of 2022, where they drafted two Slovakian teammates, this time selecting two friends and teammates: Cayden Lindstrom (5th) and Andrew Basha (26th).
With the first-round pick acquired in the trade with Winnipeg, the Canadiens seem particularly interested in Basha, personally met by Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.
Basha, an 18-year-old left winger, scored 85 points in 63 games this season in the WHL and speaks fluent French, thanks to his New Brunswick-born mother. He sees himself as an elite player, comparing his style to Kyle Connor and Jordan Kyrou.
