The Montreal Canadiens narrowly secured a victory in an arena where, oddly, the team has had no success since the early 2000s, except for last year and now this year.

It's worth noting that the San Jose Sharks are no longer the dominant and tough-to-play team they were during that period.
In summary, Martin St-Louis's team overcame a 0-2 deficit to eventually clinch the victory in a shootout.
The Canadiens' young star, Cole Caufield, ended a significant drought of 5-on-5 goals by tying the game in the third period.
Caufield's reaction after the goal spoke volumes about the mindset of number 22. He hadn't scored since November 9, and more importantly, he hadn't scored a regular-time goal since October 14, in the season's second game.
The image shows him metaphorically getting the monkey off his back, as the English expression goes, while heading to the Canadiens' bench.
Regarding that goal, it was also a first for a team player. The NHL announced a change and goalie Cayden Primeau earned his first career point.
"They have added an assist on Caufield's goal to Cayden Primeau, his first career point in the NHL."

In addition to concluding the match with another excellent performance in the net, Primeau collected his first point and his second victory of the season.
It's great to see the 24-year-old goaltender gradually becoming more prominent in discussions about becoming a regular in the lineup.
