In the last few hours, there has been a rather concerning update regarding the health status of former Montreal Canadiens forward, Artturi Lehkonen. Despite suffering an injury two weeks ago, the Finnish player is still wearing a cervical collar to stabilize his neck. Lehkonen's mother has even left her hometown to care for him in Colorado, which is quite worrying.
According to head coach Jared Bednar, there's a strong possibility that the 28-year-old forward may need to miss a significant amount of time. In light of this, Elliotte Friedman suggested in his podcast "32 Thoughts" that the Colorado Avalanche might be active in the trade market, seeking an attacker to fill Lehkonen's void.
This situation might present an opportunity for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens to complete another transaction with the Colorado Avalanche. Martin St-Louis' lineup includes two veterans, Tanner Pearson and Sean Monahan, whose futures in Montreal are uncertain, and they could bring a different dimension to Jared Bednar's forwards.
On one hand, Tanner Pearson, a Stanley Cup winner with the Los Angeles Kings, has shown he can still be very useful on a third line and has extensive playoff experience. On the other hand, Sean Monahan could provide a very interesting offensive contribution, giving his coach additional resources to build a dangerous top-6.
Certainly, this will be a situation to follow closely, especially considering the strong business relationship between Kent Hughes and Chris MacFarland.
