While he is currently in Palm Beach, Florida, for a three-day meeting of NHL general managers, Kent Hughes gave a very interesting interview to TVA Sports.

After officially learning that the young David Reinbacher would be moving to the AHL in the coming days, having finished his season in Europe, another promising prospect is to be watched for joining the organization very soon, and that's defenseman Lane Hutson.
In connection with his arrival, the Canadiens' GM made a strong statement that speaks volumes about the management's interest in their young gem.
We're not hiding the fact that we're happy with his progress." - Kent Hughes

Hughes also mentioned that he was "excited to see how he will adapt to the pros".
As a good executive, however, he did not confirm any details about a potential contract with Hutson, claiming that he was letting him finish his college campaign before asserting anything.
As an approach, we want to allow collegiate players to finish their season before commenting." - Kent Hughes

However, in light of his performances this season, it would be very surprising if the Canadiens do not bring back the 20-year-old American in the coming weeks.
In 33 games so far, in his second NCAA season, the second-round pick in 2022 totals 12 goals and 44 points.
He is likely to be nominated again this year for the prestigious Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the country's best college player.
If he didn't win it last year, with Adam Fantilli being the winner, it might well be his turn this time.
