Ivan Demidov has officially made his debut in the KHL with the legendary SKA Saint Petersburg.
The Montreal Canadiens prospect is also paired with the team captain and former NHL star,
Evgeny Kuznetsov, on the same line.
This means he has an important role to start the season. It's clear that SKA wants to give him plenty of ice time and a significant presence in their offensive setup.
Recall that Canadiens' management had a meeting with SKA's officials to establish a development plan for Ivan Demidov's next season.
He has also earned his first point by assisting on SKA's first goal of the season. What a debut!
It's evident that Demidov is quickly adapting to the KHL level of play, which bodes well for the rest of the season.
The Canadiens plan to let him finish his final year of contract in Russia before bringing him to North America.
That's the hope, but we can expect many updates from the KHL as we follow Ivan Demidov's campaign.
